UNMC community partners offer summer fun

The Durham Museum provides free museum admission for UNMC employees, students and their immediate family with a valid identification badge.

UNMC’s community partners are ready to help the UNMC community enjoy the summer. Take a look below at the special events UNMC employees, students and families can take part in this summer.

At The Durham Museum, it is a summer of ocean exploration. The museum’s new exhibit, “James Cameron: Challenging the Deep,” is currently open and will run all summer. Every Wednesday throughout the exhibit, the museum will read aloud an ocean-themed book, followed by a craft. There will be new books and crafts each week. All ages are welcome.

At The Joslyn Museum, enjoy a free outdoor concert with the Omaha Symphony on Sunday, June 6 at 2 p.m. Violist Brian Sherwood, bassist Nate Olson and flutist Maria Harding will perform Erwin Schulhoff’s “Concertino for Flute, Viola and Double Bass” in the museum’s Peter Kiewit Sculpture Garden. Limited seating will be available at the base of the grand staircase; attendees may bring a blanket, lawn chair or picnic.

In addition to these events, there are additional summer happenings at the Omaha Community Playhouse, Rose Theater, Lauritzen Gardens and Fontenelle Forest.
