Stacy L. Solomon, DDS (Dr. Stacy)Assistant ProfessorDepartment of Adult Restorative Dentistry Background: I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at UNL in 1992 and my teaching certification for secondary science education from UNL in 1994. I taught high school biology and chemistry in Maryville, Mo., and was a substitute teacher for Lincoln Public Schools.I worked as a dental assistant for a Lincoln dentist before entering dental school in 1996. I graduated from the UNMC College of Dentistry in May 2000 and bought an existing dental practice in Tea, S.D., where I practiced from June 2000 to June 2004. I built a practice in Merna, Neb., (a converted Catholic church) and started practicing in December 2004. I relocated my existing practice from Merna to Broken Bow in January 2012, sold the practice in 2020 and continued to work as an associate until May 2021.Research/professional interests: Working with the hearing impaired, private practice, oral pathology, periodonticsService activities: American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, Southwest District Nebraska Dental AssociationWhat I'm most looking forward to about working at the college: I am excited that I will have the opportunity to work with dental students and help them achieve their educational goals. I am also excited to be part of the faculty team.Favorite memory when I was a UNMC College of Dentistry student: The instructors and staff that I encountered and worked with while I was a student. They were supportive during school and were great resources and mentors following graduation. Hometown: South Sioux City, Neb. My dad designed and built golf courses, including his own course called Covington Links. I grew up in a house that was between the hole #1 and #8 fairways. About my family: I am a middle child with one older sister and one younger brother; therefore, I am the mediator. I met my husband, Andrew, as an undergrad at UNL and we were married in 1996. We have two children: Skylar is currently attending UNL for pre-dental hygiene and Alekzandra attends Lincoln Southwest and will be graduating in May 2022. We have two miniature Australian shepherds, Serenity Jayne and Garibaldi G’Kar, and one toy Australian shepherd, River Rose. Favorite thing to do on a day off: I love to relax and spend time with my family and dogs. I love to craft, game, read and watch movies. Unique things about me: I am a HUGE Disney fanatic and self-proclaimed geek. I am obsessed with Doctor Who, Star Wars, Marvel, Firefly, Babylon 5 and some Star Trek. I love musicals and forensic shows. I also love to travel and I am currently a travel planner who specializes in Disney vacations.
