Renowned inclusivity leader James Wright to speak

James Wright

“When we say we believe in equality for everyone and every group, do we really mean it?”

This is the question James Wright, a global leader in organizational diversity, is asking the UNMC and Omaha community in his session “Inclusion Refocused: Race Conversations and the Urgency of Now.” Wright will speak to UNMC in an event hosted virtually by UNMC’s Office of Human Resources on June 16 at 1 p.m.

The talk will center on personal and organizational responsibility for achieving excellence in inclusivity; challenges and efforts related to diversity, equity and inclusion; and understanding social and systemic issues impacting race relations within the Omaha community and across the nation.

Wright has led teams and developed practical roadmaps for increasing diversity and fostering inclusivity within global corporations such as Apple, LinkedIn, NBC Universal and others. He has become a sought-after speaker in the field of diversity and inclusion, human resources and social media. Wright approaches his work with the notion that all of us have opportunities to engage, encourage, listen to and learn from someone who is different from ourselves.

“James Wright offers a frank and fascinating discussion on how to create an environment that fosters diversity, equity, access and inclusion,” said Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD. “As UNMC moves to address barriers to inclusion, this event will assist us in our strategic planning to achieve our diversity, equity and inclusion goals across UNMC’s 500-mile campus.”

Use the Bridge Platform to register for this event. The event also can be viewed via Zoom.

This free event is open to UNMC, University of Nebraska at Omaha and Nebraska Medicine employees, community partners and the general public.
