Registration open for interprofessional education conference

Devin Nickol, MD

UNMC is co-sponsoring this year’s Heartland Interprofessional Education Conference, which will be held July 29 and 30 via Zoom.

The conference provides an opportunity for learners, scholars and practitioners in the field of interprofessional education and health care to share knowledge, build skills, experience professional development and form collaborative relationships, said Devin Nickol, MD, associate dean for interprofessional education.

Ben Stobbe, assistant vice chancellor for UNMC’s iEXCEL, will be part of a panel presentation titled “Envisioning the Future of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice.” Dr. Nickol will moderate the panel.

The conference will highlight emerging trends in interprofessional education and collaborative practice, facilitate participants’ knowledge and skills and affirm attitudes focused on improving outcomes for patients, health care professionals and populations.

Faculty, staff, students and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts in the areas of interprofessional practice, education or research in categories of oral presentation, workshop or poster presentation.

Dr. Nickol said the conference has consistently attracted a national audience. UNMC held the first conference in 2019. Last year, it was hosted by Creighton University, and this year Des Moines University is the host institution.

Cost of the conference is $100 for professionals, $50 for students or $75 per person for groups of five from the same institution.
