De-Stress Week set for April 26-30

UNMC students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in UNMC’s De-Stress Week celebration, which runs all next week. De-Stress Week will include snacks, a UNMC pet photograph album, yoga and more.

The following is a list of De-Stress Week events on the Omaha campus:

Monday, April 26:

  • Breakfast on the go, 7:30-9 a.m., Sorrell Center Alumni Commons: Free granola bars and fruit while supplies last (items individually packaged).
  • Paws to De-Stress, 2 p.m., UNMC Instagram: Visit UNMC’s Instagram account and meet some of the adorable pets that belong to UNMC faculty, staff and students.

Tuesday, April 27:

  • Breakfast on the go, 7:30-9 a.m., Durham Research Center, Commons Area: Free granola bars and fruit while supplies last (items individually packaged).
  • Student Snack Break, 10 a.m., McGoogan Health Sciences Library, sixth floor by the AskUs desk: The McGoogan Library staff will provide healthy snacks for students, so take a quick study break and grab a snack (while supplies last). In the library, please enjoy your snack in the study room only.
  • Virtual Yoga, 12 p.m., Zoom: Breathe, stretch and unwind in this relaxing and recharging Zoom yoga practice. Suitable for busy students and staff, this class is beginner-friendly and a great way to take a mindful break and get the blood flowing. Sponsored by UNO Campus Recreation.

Wednesday, April 28:

  • Campus Walk and Lunch to Go 12 p.m., UNMC Ice Rink: Join fitness specialist Peter Pellerito for a fun, one-mile socially distanced walk around campus. A sack lunch to-go will be provided to the first 20 participants. In case of rain, the walk will be moved to the Center for Healthy Living with a maximum of 20 participants allowed inside.

Thursday, April 29:

  • Eating Well Under Pressure, 12 p.m., Zoom: Join nutrition therapist, Meghan Mclarney for a lunch time conversation about how to eat healthy while under pressure. Mclarney will discuss the importance of making healthy eating choices in times of stress, provide tips for staying on track and easy snack recipes you can enjoy.
  • Nebraska Medical Orchestra Performance, 2 p.m., Ruth & Bill Scott Student Plaza: Our own Nebraska Medical Orchestra will perform soothing music in the Ruth & Bill Scott Student Plaza. Unable to stop by? We will stream this live on our UNMC Instagram account. Rain location: Linder Reading Room
  • Popcorn To-Go, 2 p.m., Ruth & Bill Scott Student Plaza: Pop on by for some free popcorn while supplies last (bags individually packaged). Rain location: Sorrell Center Alumni Commons

Friday, April 30:

  • Drive Thru: MavPantry Food Drive, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Davis Global Center cutout (north side of building): Bring a donation for the Maverick Food Pantry and we will provide you with a free De-Stress kit in return (while supplies last). Those without a car can still donate by walking up their donation. For a list of preferred donations, click here. Sponsored by the UNMC Office of Community Engagement.
