The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) has announced winners of its inaugural International Photo Contest.
The contest had 12 faculty/staff and 22 student/resident participants, with a total of 92 photos submitted.
Organizers said the anonymous judging panel had a difficult selection process. One judge said: “It was very difficult to choose because they were all amazing. But I enjoyed the creativeness with the photo titles and descriptions which helped me vote for the winners.”
The international photos were judged based on originality and creativity, photographic quality and communication of culture and place.
“It was wonderful to participate in virtual global engagement through these photos,” said Jane Meza, PhD, associate vice chancellor for global engagement.

- Third: Channabasavaiah Gurumurthy, “Autumn near Atomium in Brussels”
- Honorable Mention: Irving Zucker, “Berber Camel Herder”
- Honorable Mention: Nancy Krusen, “Remembrance of the dead at an ancient Buddhist temple on a high mountain in Yamadera, Japan”
Student/resident winners:
- First: Natalie Musser, “Generations”
- Second: Benjamin McIntire, “Women of Kanikelele”
- Third: Olivia Sonderman, “Serene in Green”
- Honorable Mention: Natalie Musser, “Innovation”
- Honorable Mention: Susan Greni, “The Great Pyramid”
