Submissions for research abstracts and posters for the Child Health Research Institute (CHRI) Pediatric Research Forum are being accepted through April 15.
Students and faculty are encouraged to submit relevant child health research to be showcased.
Kate Heelan, PhD | Gwenn Skar, MD |
The forum, which will be held virtually May 13-14, will feature keynote speakers:
- Kate Heelan, PhD, professor, kinesiology and sports sciences, University of Nebraska at Kearney. Dr. Heelan will speak on “Adaptations of an Effective Evidence-based Pediatric Weight Management Intervention for Implementation into Rural and Micropolitan Communities.”
- Gwenn Skar, MD, assistant professor of pediatrics, UNMC. Dr. Skar will speak on “Developing Your Path in Research.”
On May 14, the forum includes a resident research presentation and medical student award ceremony. CME credits are offered for both days of the forum.
In addition to traditional research submissions, CHRI will showcase the works of Medicinal Musings, an outlet for health care professionals and scientists to express themselves through art. Works of original poetry, prose, photography, art and musical compositions will be collected and presented on the forum web site, and awards will be given for exceptional entries in each category.
“CHRI is thrilled to host our second virtual research forum,” said Ann Anderson Berry, MD, PhD, interim executive director of CHRI. “We will miss celebrating everyone’s research successes in person but will plan on an in-person event in 2022. Please encourage your trainees to submit their best work and posters for a great opportunity to showcase their research talents. Despite a year of closing research and then working around COVID-19 safety restrictions, I am amazed by the quality of research put forward by our investigators.
“We look forward to your presentations and participation in CHRI’s premier annual event, virtual or in person, your work means better lives for children everywhere.”
CHRI Research Manager Ashley Servais agreed.
“We are looking forward to seeing the hard work accomplished during these challenging times,” Servais said.
