Beginning Monday, University of Nebraska students, faculty, staff and supporters are invited to participate in “I Love NU” Week, a weeklong virtual celebration of the work and impact of NU’s four campuses.
The university traditionally hosts “I Love NU” Day each year at the Capitol, where supporters can engage with state senators and share stories of how the university has touched their lives. This year, because of COVID-19, the event is moving online and will last all week, from March 22 through March 26.
Members of the university community are encouraged to participate by doing any of the following:
- Share stories of the university’s impact on social media using the hashtag #ILoveNU. Stories can include a personal experience at the university, a family member’s experience, personal anecdotes involving the university’s health care, business, extension or other services, or any other anecdotes illustrating the impact of NU’s teaching, research and outreach.
- Supporters may post social content any time during the week, but the NU system will dedicate one day of the week to each campus for campus-specific content and video remarks from that campus’ student body president. March 23 will celebrate the University of Nebraska at Kearney, March 24 will celebrate the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, March 25 will celebrate the University of Nebraska at Omaha and March 26 will celebrate UNMC.
Supporters can:
- Follow the University of Nebraska system on Twitter or UNMC’s Twitter.
- Sign up to become a University of Nebraska advocate. Advocates receive regular updates from the university on key legislative developments and alerts on how and when they can engage with elected leaders.
- Contact their state senator to share their experience with the university and express appreciation for the legislature’s support of affordable, high-quality education in Nebraska.
