DHHS seeking responses on caregiving survey

To address the growing needs of Nebraska’s working family caregivers, the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network, a Department of Health and Human Services contractor with the Munroe-Meyer Institute at UNMC, has created a working caregiver survey.

This anonymous, web-based survey helps employers and their employees understand the scope and needs of working caregivers as they strive to create a healthy and supportive work environment.

“The Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network is dedicated to informing employers of public and private resources to best support the 240,000 caregivers in Nebraska,” said Kim Falk, respite employer engagement coordinator at MMI. “Our goal, in making this survey accessible to the UNMC community, is to get information the state needs to provide the needed assistance for working caregivers, including respite resources that provide a break for caregivers and helps them manage the demands of both work and family caregiving.”

“The COVID pandemic has created a larger need of support for working caregivers,” Falk said. “The participation of UNMC employees, even those who are not caregivers, will provide important information that will help employers and the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network better support the needs and demands of working caregivers and assist them in staying active in the work force.”

The survey is being conducted through a contract with MMI. It will be active for UNMC faculty and staff until March 15. Participation from both caregivers and non-caregivers is appreciated.
