Brian Anderson of the University of Nebraska Foundation has accepted the position of the foundation’s senior director for the UNMC College of Medicine.
In the role, he will coordinate fundraising efforts for the college.
During his four years with the foundation, Anderson has successfully led fundraising for the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions, College of Pharmacy, various health science programs and the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI).
Working with donors and as part of the NU Foundation team, he facilitated projects that included the completion of a capital campaign the enabled MMI to design a state-of-the-art center for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex health care needs; the College of Allied Health Professions O’Malley Match, which nearly doubled the total number of scholarships at the college each year; and other innovative, programmatic funding efforts.
Anderson said he was looking forward to supporting the work of the College of Medicine.
“The College of Medicine is changing lives and saving lives every day,” he said. “The college is educating the next generation of physicians, and being able to support the college in that work is an honor. I look forward to learning from and working with them.”
One of his aims as he arrives, he said, is to boost the college’s scholarship funding.
“The cost of medical education is always increasing, and that can be a burden for some students,” he said. “My goal is to ensure that each student has the opportunity to seek their passion for helping others without worrying about financial stress.
“My hope is that members of the college feel the presence of our foundation team partnering with them to help reach their goals.
Bradley Britigan, MD, dean of the UNMC College of Medicine, welcomed Anderson to the College of Medicine team.
“Brian’s development experience, his ‘team first’ orientation and his collaborative leadership style will be an asset for the College of Medicine team as we plan for the future,” Dr. Britigan said.
Congratulations, Brian!
