Virtual winter commencement ceremony this week

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, and other campus leaders preparing for the virtual commencement ceremony.

To ensure the health and safety of campuses and communities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, UNMC’s December 2020 commencement ceremony will be held virtually on Friday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. CT.

More than 300 students are expected to receive their diplomas from UNMC this semester. As in previous years, December commencement will be a single ceremony for the Colleges of Allied Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health and Graduate Studies.

The pre-recorded ceremony will be available for viewing on the commencement website. Graduates, family, friends and community members are encouraged to watch the ceremony “live” and create a collective, community experience via social media. Use the hashtag #UNMCVirtualGrad to share the moment and record memories.

Graduating students who requested to be honored during the ceremony will have their name, as well as photo and degree, displayed for the audience.
