Megan Brown

  • Name: Megan Brown
  • Title: Instructional designer
  • Hometown: Cairo, Nebraska

Talk about your job and what you like best about it:

I am an instructional designer in the UNMC Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Anatomy. I develop course and program materials in collaboration with faculty members, providing informed guidance in the use of the latest teaching strategies and academic technologies. I ensure that our instructional design projects align with UNMC’s institutional requirements for best practices, contain sound educational theory, and meet curriculum goals.

I love my job! I get to combine my two passions, education and technology. I am grateful that GCBA has allowed me to grow in my role and develop a career, not just a job, for myself. The best part of my position is the people I work with. We are a team and support each other through everything. This year has been the most challenging year of my career, but it is because of these amazing people that I look forward to working each day.

List three things people may not know about you:

  • I am 5 feet tall (shh . . . that may no longer be true, but I will never admit it).
  • People say I am a tech nerd, but they haven’t met my husband.
  • I was accepted into a doctoral program starting spring 2021.
