As a result of the unique challenges posed by COVID-19, the University of Nebraska system’s Office of Diversity, Access and Inclusion is suspending its Inclusive Excellence Development Grants for fall 2020. Grants will resume in the spring 2021 semester.
Inclusive Excellence Development Grants are typically awarded twice per year to teams across the NU system for initiatives that advance campus climate, student recruitment and retention, and/or faculty and staff recruitment and retention. Grants are worth up to $3,000 each and are awarded following a competitive application process.
But given the unique demands that the pandemic has placed on faculty and staff this semester, along with the transition to remote work for many employees, NU Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Stancia Jenkins said postponing the Inclusive Excellence Development Grant process was the appropriate decision.
Any teams that had begun the application process for the fall 2020 grants may resume applying next spring. The NU system will issue a call for applications early next year with more details, including application deadlines.
“We know all campuses are continuing to pursue critical work toward inclusive excellence, and we look forward to supporting and celebrating that work through our grant program soon,” Jenkins said.
