What made you choose to become the program director?

I love helping young physicians grow from medical students into outstanding independent clinicians.

What challenges do you foresee in graduate medical education in the future?

Financing graduate medical education is always a challenge.

What are the strengths of your training program?

We have:

  • Outstanding patient diversity so that residents take care of people from all walks of life, from the worried well to the critically ill.
  • Leadership is committed to increasing diversity and helping residents learn resiliency and work-life balance.

List some accomplishments that you are proud of:

  • Being a mom and a pulmonary-critical care physician. (My secret is my husband of 25 years!)
  • Building the Pulmonary Hypertension Center of Excellence.
  • Being program director during a pandemic.

Tell us three things about you that others may not know:

  • I have five kids.
  • My oldest is in medical school at my alma mater.
  • I ran a marathon last year but I definitely prefer the half-marathon!
