Joslyn events celebrate Currier & Ives exhibit

The Joslyn Art Museum will host two events later this month to celebrate their new exhibit, “Revisiting America: The Prints of Currier & Ives,” and members of the UNMC community are invited to participate.

The first event is an online lecture featuring Emma Westbrook, a 2018-19 Weitz Fellow and curatorial assistant at the Joslyn Museum. Westbrook will review the history of the museum’s Currier & Ives collection and lithography’s place in 19th-century visual culture, as well as take a look at popular historical images of transportation, fires and sports.

This event will take place on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. Register for the event.

The second event is a members-only in-person preview of the new exhibit, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 20, from 5-8 pm. Timed tickets, masks and social distancing are required. If you are interested in attending, please email Joslyn with your name, email, phone number, number of people in group, and your desired 30-minute timeslot by Nov. 18. The Joslyn will send a confirmation email if they are able to accommodate you that evening.

If you are unable to attend the members-only preview and would like to view the exhibit at another time, you can do so for free as a benefit of the Passport Partners program. Be sure to schedule your time-ticket reservation in advance. Find more information on the Joslyn’s ticket and visitor policies.
