COM student of the month

Taylor Kratochvil

Name: Taylor Kratochvil

Hometown: Omaha

Program/Year: College of Medicine, Class of 2022

Education: After high school at Creighton Prep, I wanted to go on a bit of an adventure and went to Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. As a basketball nut and an avid outdoorsman, I was right at home. I then came back and attended UNMC for a M.S. program in medical anatomy and to prepare for medical school.

Hobbies: When I’m outside, I’m at my happiest. One of my favorite local trips is to sneak off to the Platte River for kayaking and picnicking on sand bars. I also have a passion for health policy. I’m fortunate to have found friends at UNMC that, whether it’s between classes or at Scriptown, I can talk about what’s going on in the Unicameral or on Capitol Hill. Though it’s frowned upon, I’m a Jay-sker. Podcasts and articles on Creighton Basketball and Husker Football get me through the week until game day.

Three things people may not know about me:

  • My seventh grade science fair project explored the effect of caffeine on video game performance (Guitar Hero).
  • I learned how to braid hair at a young age by braiding dough for Hoska (a Czech bread) with my grandma.
  • My mom convinced me to do ballet and tap as a kid by saying “all the football players do it to help their footwork.”

I remember you hanging out in the clinic when your dad and I were seeing research subjects late and on Saturdays! It has been a pleasure to watch you grow up, Taylor! (Even if you are a Chiefs fan!)
