UNMC subscription to VisualDx renewed

VisualDx, a leader in diagnostic accuracy, will continue to be a resource for UNMC due to a partnership between the McGoogan Health Sciences Library and iEXCEL.

A variety of devices may be used to access the database.

VisualDx is the largest database of high-quality images and features a differential diagnosis builder. This tool allows students and professionals to learn about diseases and input symptoms that assist in the diagnosis of thousands of conditions. Currently, UNMC VisualDx users engage the platform to search an upwards of 22,000 images per month.

iEXCEL partnered with the McGoogan Health Sciences Library to ensure that this resource remains accessible for all UNMC faculty, staff, students and health care professionals.

The VisualDx software is accessible in app or web-browser format and can be used anywhere to save time and improve accuracy in practitioner diagnosis.

Alison Bobal, head of collection development and metadata at the library, said the software is a key resource because it has “robust imagery and information on treatment for diseases shown on many different skin types and ages, aiding in the reduction of health care disparities.”

“Unlike any other software, VisualDx has a vast number of images for different stages of disease progression,” Bobal said.
