How I fell in love with cytotechnology: First, I fell in love with UNMC. I completed two summer internship programs through the med center and thoroughly enjoyed everyone I came in contact with. When I finished my undergraduate education, I realized I needed to keep growing to find a field I was passionate about. The first place I looked was UNMC. That’s when I discovered the field of cytotechnology. The career provided me a way to utilize my science degree and help people in the community. I worked in the field for four years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My passion for mentoring has been building ever since I entered the workforce. I could not be more excited to invest in the future of cytotechnology through expanding the UNMC program and educating future cytotechs.
