We’ve heard from many of you: child care is proving to be challenging as schools resume and many students will be learning remotely at least part of the week. Numerous colleagues have reached out to Human Resources looking for help with options, so that they can continue to work without interruption.
In an effort to support our colleagues with school-age children, Nebraska Medicine and UNMC have compiled resources for colleagues who need additional care for their children. This includes online resources that are free to the public:
- Care.com – Conduct a search for one-time or long-term child care providers
- Nebraska Child Care Referral Network – Search for a licensed child care provider across Nebraska
- Nanny Poppinz – Search for a nanny to meet your family’s needs
Additionally, we’re attempting to connect colleagues who need child care, with those who may be able to assist with care. Maybe you work part-time and could help on certain weekdays, or maybe you have a college-age student who could possibly help. Or maybe there is another family who lives near you, and you could take turns caring for children and overseeing their coursework.
There are two internal lists, which will include information that was self-submitted by med center colleagues: one list for those requiring care and one list for those who may be able to help. These lists can be viewed on the UNMC Intranet.
This list of care providers is self-submitted by Nebraska Medicine and UNMC colleagues. It is intended for internal use only — neither the full list nor any portion of it may be publicized outside of the organization. Neither UNMC or Nebraska Medicine verifies the accuracy of the information, and neither entity employs, recommends or endorses any care provider on the list. The medical center is providing the list solely to assist its colleagues. UNMC and Nebraska Medicine will not be responsible or liable for the performance or conduct of any care provider or the conduct of any care seeker or their children. Parents and guardians should thoroughly evaluate potential care providers. If you need to add/remove your information to one of these lists, please fill out the form referenced on the site.
The individuals listed have indicated they are available to assist with child care or are looking for care for their children. Contact one of them for additional details and/or to discuss payment and scheduling.
