On Thursday, July 9, UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey. P. Gold, MD, sent the following message to students, faculty and staff:
The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is home to a large and diverse international student body — each one a vital part of what makes our institution a truly exceptional place to learn, teach, work and grow.
On Monday, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced modifications to temporary exemptions for nonimmigrant students taking online classes for the Fall 2020 semester.

The UNMC leadership team wishes to reiterate our commitment that we will continue do everything in our power to help our students achieve their academic goals.
Our outstanding team in the UNMC Office of Global Engagement has been working diligently with members of our international student community to help affected students take the steps they need to stay on track in their academic journeys.
The entire UNMC leadership team will continue to support our international students as they navigate their educational journey, and we ask that our students, faculty, staff and community partners to do the same.
