Munroe-Meyer Guild’s Garden Walk fundraiser to be virtual June 14

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and Nebraska's directed health measures, the Munroe-Meyer Guild has moved its Garden Walk online.

Portions of each of the six gardens selected for the 2020 Garden Walk will be available to view on video at the Munroe-Meyer Guild website beginning June 14. Homeowners will showcase a favorite area of their gardens via the videos.

“Homeowners are disappointed that they are not able to share their gardens with everyone this year, but they are excited they have another year to make them even more spectacular,” said Luann Rabe, president of the guild. She said the guild is planning for its regular walk next year.

While at the website, virtual visitors are encouraged to consider donating at https://www.unmc.edu/mmi/news-events/community-events/gardenwalk.html. The Munroe-Meyer Guild supports innovative projects being conducted at the Munroe-Meyer Institute, Nebraska's only University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service.

The Garden Walk is a major source of income for the Guild to fund its Munroe-Meyer Institute grants, which have supported job training, mobility interventions and many other successful programs and projects at MMI to improve the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. A donation helps provide grants for research, client services and professional projects that impact lives here in Omaha and beyond.
