Members of the UNMC community are invited to participate today in the first in a series of “listening sessions” after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, which initiated protests and national calls to end structural racism, and the death of James Scurlock during such a protest in Omaha.
UNMC’s first session will provide an opportunity for panel members to hear from the campus community — through e-mail and chat questions and comments — as well as share their own thoughts on the systemic inequity for people of color, all with the purpose of gathering input on how UNMC can move forward to enact lasting change.
Today’s online forum will be from 1-2 p.m. and feature the following panelists:
- Dele Davies, M.D., senior vice chancellor for academic affairs;
- Sheritta Strong, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry and interim director of inclusion;
- Aileen Warren, assistant vice chancellor for human resources; and
- Tom Schroeder, UNMC Student Senate President and Student Regent.
Today’s session will have the same virtual format as recent all-campus forums during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Members of the UNMC community are invited to participate
