The American Heart Association is changing the format of its annual Heart Walk this year.
The walk, in its 26th year, is the American Heart Association’s premier event in the community. It celebrates heart and stroke survivors, promotes physical activity, heart-healthy living, and raises funds for research, advocacy and CPR training.
Instead of walking in person on May 30, the event will be held virtually to embrace social distancing guidelines related to the novel coronavirus.
Participants are invited to get moving at home or in their neighborhood by wearing their favorite heart walk attire, going for a walk, eating a healthy meal, tackling an at-home workout or sharing how they’re living out their healthy at-home experience on social media using the #HeartWalkNE.
The American Heart Association has a goal to recruit 1,000 participants by May 1. See information on joining a UNMC/Nebraska Medicine team.

UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are sponsors of the event.
