Chancellor, extension dean to discuss COVID-19 on RFD-TV

Chuck Hibberd, Ph.D., dean of the Cooperative Extension Division of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will be the guest of UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., on “Rural America Live,” which will be shown at 5 p.m. tonight on RFD-TV.

Dr. Gold and Dr. Hibberd will discuss how COVID-19 has affected some parts of rural America and some of the concerns they are hearing from farmers and ranchers.

Other topics will include:

  • Day-to-day stressors for rural populations, and what help is available.
  • Availability of medical care or COVID-19 tests.
  • Status of federal funding that could help rural areas during this crisis.
  • Services that might assist the business of farming and ranching during crisis.
  • Effects on other forms of ag businesses, such as grain elevators, co-ops, farm and feed suppliers, sale barns, and many more, plus the small town businesses that provide all the other necessities of life.
