New research funding opportunities in neuroimaging, neuroscience

The Cognitive Neuroscience of Development and Aging (CONDA) Center — a new Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CoBRE) — has two research funding opportunities, one available to faculty members and one to graduate students and postdocs.

The CONDA Center, which is led by Tony Wilson, Ph.D., associate professor, UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences, focuses on the cognitive neuroscience of lifespan development and strives to support and develop all neuroimaging and human neuroscience research in the region.

The funding opportunities are available only to faculty, graduate students and postdocs at participating institutions (UNMC, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Creighton University and Boys Town). Application deadlines are 5 p.m. CST on May 15.

  • The Pilot Projects Program provides support to emerging scholars in this area by enabling them to pursue promising new research directions and acquire the preliminary data necessary to apply for and obtain external federal funding. Successful applicants will receive up to $50,000 in direct costs per year for one- to two-years, as well as access to the resources and equipment of the center for professional development and project support. Organizers anticipate funding several Pilot Projects through this RFA in 2020-2021. See the RFA.
  • The Mini Grants Program provides support to promising research projects led by graduate students and post-doctoral research associates. The main goals of the program are to enhance graduate student and postdoctoral research projects across the Omaha academic community. Total budgets should range from $5,000 to a maximum of $20,000 and organizers anticipate funding several mini grants in 2020. See the RFA.
