UNMC and University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) alumni are invited to participate in the first Alumni Lunch & Learn today from 12:30 – 1 p.m. (CST). Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., will speak on the COVID-19 pandemic and field questions from the online audience.

Launched as a joint venture by the UNMC and UNO Alumni Associations, the Alumni Virtual Lunch & Learn will be streamed live via Facebook. This platform will allow for questions and comments from viewers.
A Facebook account is not required to watch and participate in the live stream.
Chancellor Gold will provide an update on the current status of the pandemic, including critical numbers worldwide, nationally and in Nebraska. He will also discuss:
- The national relevance of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine patient care and research.
- The most significant changes to UNMC and UNO operations.
- The recent return of students to classes via remote learning and the move to online commencement ceremonies.
- Ways the university can help alumni during this challenging time.
A second virtual lunch and learn, on the topic “The Wisdom of Elders in the Midst of COVID-19,” will be held at 12:30 p.m. April 14, featuring the chancellor and guests Steven Wengel, M.D., assistant vice chancellor for campus wellness at UNMC and UNO and chair of the UNMC Department of Psychiatry, and Julie Masters, Ph.D., professor and Terry Haney Chair of Gerontology at UNO.
