UNMC to pause hiring on state-aided positions

Effective March 20 and until further notice, UNMC has put a pause on the hiring of all state-aided positions.

Exceptions can be made if units have a position that is deemed mission critical. (To request such an exemption, submit requests to Carmen Sirizzotti on the weekly Chancellor’s “Approval to Hire” report. The deadline for that report is every Friday by 2:30 p.m.)

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., and Doug Ewald, vice chancellor of business, finance and business development, will review and determine whether positions will be forwarded to University of Nebraska President Ted Carter for his written approval. Once a response is received, departments will be notified accordingly.

Please note that this pause does not apply to open positions in which searches are currently being conducted. However, these positions should be reviewed by the hiring department for mission-criticality.

Any questions regarding this may be directed to respective leadership in your department.
