In our highly-connected world, many of us are accustomed to sharing status and life updates through texting and social media networking sites. But for some of us, the desire to protect our privacy is becoming more important than ever. It’s no secret today’s technology can put our privacy at risk. For laptop users, you may be aware there is always the risk a hacker can break into your computer and spy on you through your webcam.
To better protect your privacy, Nebraska Medicine is offering one free webcam cover for UNMC colleagues with company-issued laptops (one per person). You can simply attach it to the top of your screen to cover your webcam. Covers will be issued with all new laptops moving forward. The 1-inch long covers were donated to the medical center.
The webcam covers can be picked up at the UNMC Public Relations Office, Room 3000, Business Services Center (4230 Building), on the UNMC Omaha campus.
A number of webcam covers will be made available to UNMC campuses in Kearney, Norfolk, Scottsbluff and Lincoln.
