Dr. Rennard named honorary fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom

Stephen Rennard, M.D., professor of pulmonary medicine in the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine, was presented with an honorary fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. The fellowship, the highest honor the college bestows, recognizes the recipient’s eminence within their own field and their outstanding contribution to pharmaceutical medicine in research, teaching, medicine, general science or society.

Dr. Rennard received the award in London recently. This month, he culminated four years of work with AstraZeneca in London, where he served as senior vice president, BioPharmaceuticals Research and Development. Previously, he served as head of early clinical development in AstraZeneca’s Innovative Medicines and Early Development biotech unit.

“It is a splendid award to be recognized as an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine,” Dr. Rennard said. “Pharmaceutical medicine is a recognized medical specialty in the UK. Thus, the award is particularly gratifying as I’ve spent the last four years in translational medicine attempting to develop new therapies.”
