Looking at U: Jessica Cole

• Name:  Jessica (Jess) Cole

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC. 

I am part of the administrative team in the UNMC Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology and Palliative Medicine. I provide administrative support in the academic office to ensure efficient daily operation, as well as complete a variety of tasks related to organization, communication and event planning.

Innovation is one of our ITEACH values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group at UNMC exhibit this value.

Our staff and faculty are always exhibiting innovation. The current grants and research of our division seek to improve outcomes and care for the geriatric population. In addition, our division strives to implement new ideas to create the most welcoming and engaging work environment possible.

What is your favorite winter activity?

I enjoy holiday light tours and spending time with friends and family. I also love baking all of the delicious holiday sweets!

List three things people may not know about you.

• I have a pet therapy dog, Brian, that I love to take on therapy visits to schools, nursing homes and workplaces.
• I have a small business creating custom gifts such as T-shirts, drinkware and earrings.
• I once made more than 350 cupcakes for a Valentine’s Day fundraiser at my previous place of employment.
