Med center community turns out for holiday events

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., was on hand Dec. 12 for the annual Chancellor’s Holiday Tea, which drew members of the med center community. The event, which features snacks and beverages, is a tradition that allows the chancellor to mark the holiday season and express appreciation to UNMC and Nebraska Medicine staff and students. On Dec. 13, the med center held “Holiday Skate Day,” during which members of the med center were invited to skate at the UNMC Ice Rink and enjoy a hot chocolate bar. See a photo album from the event.

On Dec. 18, the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center hosted a performance of the Nebraska Medical Orchestra. See a video of the performance.

University’s M.P.H./J.D. dual degree online program ranks high in nation

UNMC’s College of Public Health and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law M.P.H./J.D. dual-degree program was ranked 16th in the U.S. in 2020 by MPH Online.

The program, which began in the fall of 2013, is one of eight dual degree programs offered in public health. The M.P.H./J.D. degree allows students to obtain expertise and specialized training in public health law.

UNMC’s College of Public Health offers dual-degree programs in collaboration with the UNMC Colleges of Medicine, Allied Health Professions and Pharmacy, as well as the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s School of Social Work and Colleges of Business and Information Science and Technology, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Colleges of Law and Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

Holiday hours for mail services, general supply, printing and parking services

In observance of the holidays, UNMC Mail Services, General Supply and Printing Services will be closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. Parking Services will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

There will be no packages (incoming or outgoing), no mail or package deliveries and no courier services.

From Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, Printing Services will have reduced hours from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Online ordering will be available at the website.

Parking Services will only be available by phone (402-559-8580) from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 26-31.
