After 40 years at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine, Karen Keller is retiring. The UNMC College of Allied Health Professions will hold a reception Dec. 11 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at University Tower in Private Dining Room C. Keller will retire on Dec. 24.
After graduating from the medical technology program at UNMC in 1978, Keller began her work at Clarkson Hospital as a medical technologist. As the Nebraska Health System became The Nebraska Medical Center and then Nebraska Medicine, Keller’s position evolved.
She retires as a hematology clinical coordinator in the UNMC Division of Medical Laboratory Science. For excellence in her field, Keller has earned awards for outstanding teaching and clinical laboratory settings. Program Director Karen Honeycutt, Ph.D, said Keller’s expertise and professionalism will be missed in the clinical laboratory and educational communities.
“Karen always promotes teamwork,” Dr. Honeycutt said. “She is a visionary collaborator always seeing the big picture.”
The campus is invited to the event.
