The Administration for Community Living is planning two free forums this month in an effort to hear and learn from people with disabilities, their families and their caregivers about their experiences with emergencies or disaster situations.
The ACL, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, wants to hear from Nebraskans with disabilities how they plan, respond and recover from these challenging situations.
Listening sessions will help the ACL understand how to improve its support, training and technical assistance in times when emergencies and disasters hit the nation.
Two events will be held:
Columbus: Sunday, Nov. 17, 1 to 3 p.m., Columbus Community Hospital, 4600 38th St.; and
Omaha: Monday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., The Salvation Army Omaha Kroc Center, 2825 Y St.
Attendees are asked to RVSP for the event at the ACL Listens website or by calling 301-588-6046. For more information, email alston@sidemgroup.com or 240-650-8298.
