Emerging Professionals Program to put survey results into action

In August, the Emerging Professionals Program (EPP) members conducted its inaugural survey to understand what exactly it is that its membership wanted to see as a benefit from this program.

EPP President Kate Porto, senior physician compensation analyst, says the program leaders learned more about how they could best connect with members, why members initially signed up, and that the membership, as a whole, tends to have the same questions surrounding how to grow their careers or find a work-life balance.

The survey results showed that nearly 42% of the EPP members currently feel challenged with understanding how to grow their careers and 27% were struggling to find work-life balance.

In addition, the survey reported more than 80% of members wanted to see more professional/personal development and community engagement events.

“Perhaps the most beneficial thing we learned is the type of content and programming EPP members would like to see from the group going forward,” Porto said. “Moving forward, you can expect to see content from the EPP that tackles these topics amongst others as a direct result of the insights uncovered from the results of this survey.”

Porto adds that it is important to the mission of this program to get its strategy for the upcoming year right for its members.

Feedback and ideas from EPP members is still welcomed. Contact Porto or EPP Vice President Blake Smith, applications senior analyst.

I remember working with the initial team on their strategy and the vision of who they wanted to be and represent inside our organizations years ago. It has been amazing to watch EPP successfully serve and educate our next generation of up and coming leaders! I look forward to speaking at the EPP event in November to answer all those organization navigation questions you have always wanted to ask. See you all then!
