Dial 10 digits when calling colleagues

Colleagues who have transitioned to 10-digit dialing do not have to dial 9, *9 or *9-1 to call colleagues at locations that have transitioned.

As of Sept. 21, 10-digit dialing went live for colleagues at the UNMC Omaha campus, Nebraska Medical Center, East Campus Corporate Pavilion (ECCP), Oakview Health Center, Village Pointe Health Center, University of Nebraska at Kearney Health Science Education Complex and Clarkson College. You can read more about it by clicking here.

For colleagues at the locations mentioned above and for others who had gone live with 10-digit dialing in prior months, here are some key reminders:

  • Do not dial 9, *9 or *9.1 to call a colleague.
  • To call someone within the organization, only dial the entire 10 digits of their phone number — for example, 402-559-7700.
  • Faxing follows the same steps. If sending a fax to colleagues, just use their 10-digit fax number. For a fax to be sent outside of the organization, then dial *9 first, or *9-1 if sending to a long distance number.
  • Security can be reached by dialing either 9-5555, 9-5111, 402-559-5555 or 402-559-5111.

If you work at Bellevue, you will continue dialing 9 and then the 10 digits of a number like you have been, until further notice. Also, for UNMC colleagues at the College of Dentistry in Lincoln and the College of Nursing in Norfolk, Neb., continue dialing like you have been.
