Lookin’ at U: Tina Young

Tina Young

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Tina Young
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • Number of years at UNMC: Two

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

I am an office associate, and I support three doctors here in the UNMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation. I also assemble the call schedule for our department. I am in charge of confirming reservations in the Lauritzen Outpatient Center auditorium, which gives me a chance to talk to people of various departments here on campus.

“Excellence” is one of UNMC’s brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed excellence in practice at UNMC.

I have witnessed excellence in practice with the doctors I support here in orthopaedic surgery. I see it when they pass along their knowledge to the orthopaedic residents.

What is your favorite fall activity?

I enjoy watching college football, particularly the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I also love to see the leaves turn color in the fall.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I enjoy singing in my church choir.
  • I am a big fan of British detective shows.
  • I love spending time with my favorite person, my 11-year-old nephew, Benjamin. He keeps me informed on the latest music, and I let him listen to my “old school” music.
