UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., was ceremonially installed as chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) on Thursday, Sept. 5.
The community event drew hundreds to the Jan and John Christensen Concert Hall in the Strauss Performing Arts Center on the UNO campus.

Investiture ceremonies are an academic tradition that offer an opportunity to welcome a new era and celebrate as a community.
Dr. Gold’s investiture was paired with his annual UNO State of the University address. The event also featured remarks from several civic leaders, among them UNO alumnus and former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, who delivered a keynote address.
Remarks throughout the program shared the theme of “Access to Exceptional.” Dr. Gold told the audience the theme originated with a shared campus commitment — a commitment he is proud to be a part of.
“As I like to say, my job is threefold: 1) To find challenges and turn them into opportunities, 2) to make other people’s dreams come true, and 3) to always remain focused on the social contract of our mission,” Dr. Gold said. “I wish all of us Godspeed on this journey.”
