Name: Lisa Stillahn
Job: Administrative associate to Ashley Wysong, MD, founding chair, UNMC Department of Dermatology
Hometown: Omaha
Number of years at UNMC: 32
Describe what you like best about your job:
The Department of Dermatology is one of the newest departments on campus, as we just celebrated our one-year anniversary on Aug. 26. The best thing I like about my job is working side-by-side with everyone in the department and being part of the team to meet the needs of our community through the efforts of Dr. Ashley Wysong.
Every day brings a new challenge and finding the right person through my many UNMC/Nebraska Medicine associates or making new connections as I work to find a solution. I enjoy the diversity of the many tasks that come across my desk – each day brings a new opportunity for learning. It’s been an honor to be part of this team and to help build a new legacy for the College of Medicine. I am proud to be a part of the UNMC community.
Three things people may not know about you:
- I went backpacking across Europe and Great Britain with a friend before I got married.
- I am a PATH International Certified Riding Instructor teaching participants with disabilities how to ride horses at Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA), and I own a 16-year-old Quarter Horse named Diamond, who also works as a therapy horse at HETRA.
- My husband, George, and I enjoy listening to blues music and attend live concerts locally and regionally – the best ones are held at small clubs where you get to meet the band!
