All-campus barbecue set for 3-6 p.m. today

Faculty, staff and students are all welcome to attend the #WeAreUNMC BBQ from 3-6 p.m. today at the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza.

“The barbecue provides us an opportunity to welcome back students and show appreciation to our faculty and staff,” said Channing Bunch, director of student recruitment and engagement. “There will be delicious food, activities and a chance to get to know your fellow classmates and coworkers.”

UNMC IDs will be required to attend the event.

There will be several activities centered around campus inclusivity and diversity.

At 3:20 p.m., there will be remarks by Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., with a special presentation to Ruth and Bill Scott, who have been longtime donors and supporters of the medical center.

Music will be provided by Signature DJ, and the food stations will be provided by Sodexo. There will be backyard games, a Zumba class provided by the Center for Healthy Living, a zero waste promotion by LiveGreen, in addition to the special presentation to the Scotts.

All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

This event is hosted by the UNMC Student Senate, the Recruitment and Student Engagement Office, and the UNMC Department of Human Resources, sponsored in part by Metro Credit Union, in collaboration with the UNMC Department of Public Relations, the Environmental Health and Safety Department, the Center for Healthy Living and the UNMC Bookstore.

The rain location will be in the Truhlsen Events Center on the first floor of the Sorrell Center.
