Nebraska Medical Orchestra to perform Wednesday

The Nebraska Medical Orchestra will perform this Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Jan and John Christensen Concert Hall.

The concert will consist of standard orchestral works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Georges Bizet as well as other works by Johann Strauss, Johann Hummel, and Gustav Holst. New UNO voice faculty member, Zachary Colby, D.M.A., will join the orchestra to perform the Beatles’ songs “Eleanor Rigby” and “Yesterday.”

The performance is free and open to the public with easily accessible parking adjacent to the concert hall.

A collaboration between UNMC and the UNO School of Music, the Nebraska Medical Orchestra is a volunteer orchestra open to all health care-related musicians in Nebraska, including students, staff, and faculty from UNMC, Nebraska Medicine, and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. Anyone interested in joining can contact music director Matthew Brooks, D.M.A., for more information. The next rehearsal cycle begins on Sept. 4.
