UNMC recently hosted about 50 academic leaders from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. These educators were in Omaha as part of UNL’s annual off-campus retreat, said Chancellor Ronnie Green, Ph.D.
Each year, UNL’s leadership team gets together to talk about big-picture strategies for the university. The chancellor’s cabinet had met at Gallup the previous day, as part of the effort to learn from local leaders and spur strategic thinking. But, Dr. Green said, he couldn’t bring his campus leaders to Omaha without also seeing UNMC.
UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., was happy to extend the invitation.
“We’re very pleased and welcome the leadership team from UNL and the opportunity for them to interact with Dr. Pam Boyers and experience the Interprofessional Experiential Center for Enduring Learning (iEXCEL) as well as learn about some of our education, research and clinical programs and learn about the arts program in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center,” said Dr. Gold.
“This is another step to building collaboration among our campuses.”
Dr. Green agreed: “I wanted our deans and academic leadership to be exposed to the development of iEXCEL, and to spend time with Pam (Dr. Boyers) and her team,” he said.
Of his own team, the UNL chancellor said: “I refer to them as the most talented higher education leadership team in the world.”
