Dr. Frankel recognized for his leadership

Becker’s Hospital Review recently released its “100 hospital and health system chief medical officers to know” in 2019 and a familiar Nebraska Medicine name was on the list.

Harris Frankel, M.D., chief medical officer, was among the 100 physicians listed. This is the fourth consecutive year that Dr. Frankel has received this honor. A neurologist, Dr. Frankel also serves as associate professor, neurological sciences, for UNMC.

The list features physician leaders dedicated to strengthening their organizations through leadership development, patient safety initiatives, health IT and quality improvement. Many of the physicians have served as department heads and continue to practice medicine, while others focus on process improvement and patient advocacy.

As leaders in their field, the physicians highlighted on this list have extensive experience building clinical and administrative teams.

Today’s open house showcases advanced simulators
UNMC and Nebraska Medicine faculty, staff and students are invited to an open house today to evaluate the latest in simulation technology under consideration for the Dr. Edwin G. & Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center, which will house iEXCEL.

Attendees may stop by the Truhlsen Event Center, located on the first floor of the Sorrell Center, today between 7 and 11:30 a.m. to try the simulation models and provide feedback related to their relevance for training, usability and realism.

Attendees will see some of the most advanced simulators that use virtual reality, haptics and real patient cases to provide learners immersive training opportunities across a variety of procedures including arthroscopy, laparoscopy, endoscopy and bronchoscopy.
