In recognition of their commitment to health care education, two UNMC leaders will have named spaces within the new Dr. Edwin G. & Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents on Friday approved the UNMC College of Medicine faculty’s request to name the virtual hospital within the Davis Global Center in honor of UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., noting that “Dr. Gold is a highly respected, national leader who has and continues to change the landscape of medical education and training.”

The board also approved the request from the William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation to honor Pamela Boyers, Ph.D., by naming the interprofessional collaboration space after her.

Dr. Boyers, associate vice chancellor for clinical simulation and iEXCEL, is a medical educator who has expertise in interprofessional simulation, education and health care. She has served as the lead architect behind UNMC’s iEXCEL program and has developed a strong and enduring interest in impacting patient safety and improving outcomes of health care through the education of health care professionals.

In other business, the board:

  • Approved, in accordance with the donor’s wishes, changing the name of the new facility to the “Dr. Edwin G. & Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center.” The building originally was named the Dr. Edwin Davis and Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center for Advanced Interprofessional Learning.
  • Approved the 23-member presidential search advisory committee as proposed.
