The badminton events, which will be held in the Center for Healthy Living, will include:

    • Short stature;
    • Standing limited;
    • Wheelchair parabadminton; and
    • regional competition.

"There is a traveling trophy that goes to the organization with the most participants in the badminton competition, so there’s an extra layer of campus pride involved," said Alec Carstens, campus recreation coordinator.

Members of the UNMC community who have questions about the badminton and parabadminton competitions can contact Robert Ericson, sport coordinator.

The  Cornhusker State Games offer a variety of sporting options, for both the extremely competitive and those who just want to have fun. The 2019 event offers more than 70 sports and takes place at numerous sites in Lincoln, Omaha, and other surrounding communities.

The games begin with opening ceremonies at 8 p.m. on July 19 at Seacrest Field in Lincoln.

Sport and registration information can be found at the Cornhusker State Games website.  For questions, call the Nebraska Sports Council at 402-471-2544.  All games participants will receive a Cornhusker State Games athlete T-shirt, free meal at athletes’ party, admission to opening ceremonies, walk in the “Parade of Athletes” and also will be competing for Cornhusker State Games gold, silver, and bronze medals.
