University of Nebraska at Kearney students tour UNMC
Students in the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s summer student research program toured UNMC on May 30, visiting the Mind & Brain Health Lab in the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences and trying out its driving simulator, touring the crystallography laboratory and Borgstahl X-ray Facility in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, and meeting with UNMC leaders such as Ken Bayles, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for basic research at UNMC and interim associate vice chancellor for research and creative activity at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Nebraska football players and coaches to visit UNMC
Members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln football team and members of its coaching staff will be visiting pediatric patients at the Durham Outpaient Center on June 26. Players also will have a reception open to all staff and visitors for photos or autographs from 1:30-2 p.m. at the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium.

Human Genetics Laboratory passes CAP accreditation
On June 4, the Human Genetics Laboratory at the Munroe-Meyer Institute passed the rigorous mandatory inspection to remain accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Of note, the certificate of passing did not include deficiencies or recommendations.

“Quality patient care is at the core of our mission, and this successful inspection affirms our commitment,” said lab director Jennifer Sanmann, Ph.D. “I’m proud of our team for their continued efforts to ensure excellence in clinical genetic testing.”
