Although she was the “baby” sister in the family, Jaydn Trimble remembers the joy she found helping take care of her siblings and friends from a young age.
“Nursing seemed like the perfect way to do this,” Trimble said. “I also love hearing people’s stories and being there for them when no one else can be.”
She’s heard a lot of stories over the years – especially stories from her three sisters – all whom graduated from the UNMC College of Nursing Kearney Division with bachelor’s degrees in nursing.
She was 14 years old when her sister, Autumn, entered nursing school. Trimble was intrigued by health care. Then, sisters Savannah and Tealyn attended nursing school together.
“They all helped solidify the fact that I wanted to be a nurse,” Trimble said. “I am a little jealous that two of my sisters were able to go through nursing school together, but I’ve had amazing support from all of them throughout my time in school.”
You can imagine what the sisters talk about sometimes when they get together.
“It’s almost impossible to not mention something related to nursing when we’re together,” she said. “We often talk about the difficult times we’ve experienced as well as the fun, joyful times. Sometimes we consult one another on how they would’ve handled a certain situation, or to get a second opinion.
“It’s almost comical because all of our significant others really don’t like to listen to us talk about nursing things, but thankfully we can always talk to each other.”
She said the four frequently joke around about becoming nurse practitioners and starting their own practice with different specialties. “It would be fun, but probably not very realistic since we all live in different cities.”
