Campus invited to nighttime ‘safety walk’

The UNMC Public Safety & Security Department is inviting faculty, staff and students to join in the first “Safety Walk,” set for 8-9:30 p.m. on May 23.

The purpose of the walk is to identify nighttime campus safety concerns.

Participants will meet at the Clarkson Tower main entrance for a walk through main areas of campus. Then they will board a shuttle to west and south parking lots. The shuttle will then return to Clarkson Tower for a short discussion.

Public safety and security staff members will be joined by facilities, grounds, card access, cameras and environmental health and safety to answer questions and document areas in need of attention.

Interested participants are asked to RSVP by May 20 to Jade Liles.

That is one of the best safety ideas I have heard yet! All the players will be there to problem solve and hopefully get things done!
