Fun in the sun: Intramural sports head outdoors

After a long, snowy winter cooped up indoors, it’s finally time to enjoy the weather, and UNMC’s intramural sports are taking it outside. Do you have a team of two or a team of 10? Are you looking for leisurely recreation or stiff competition? Are you here all summer or just some of it? Either way, we have a league for you.

If you can spare 30-40 minutes once a week, why not spend that time on something to promote your own wellbeing? Take a step to avoid burnout by doing something active in the fresh air with friends. We’ve fine-tuned our summer offerings to make sure nobody is left out. All of your favorite summer leagues have been split into short, five-week seasons. Now you can participate regardless of summer rotations or vacations.

Kickball (8v8)
Come “kick it” with us this summer. This schoolyard favorite is back for its second year.

Bocce
Imagine if you mixed shuffleboard, lawn bowling, and Skee-ball. Played by teams of 2-8, bocce is so easy to learn that there’s no excuse not to join.

Soccer (7v7)
This season marks UNMC’s third year playing the “beautiful game” at Duchesne, just one short mile from campus.

Pickleball (2v2)
Played by teams of two with paddles and a perforated, light-weight, plastic ball, Pickleball looks like a slower, scaled-down version of tennis. It’s a breeze to learn, downright addictive, and it can be played at almost ANY age. The fastest-growing sport in America has blown up at retirement communities and elementary schools alike. Now, it has taken hold at UNMC! Not ready to hop aboard the hype train yet? Meet us down at the Ice Rink and you’ll find out what all of the fuss is about.

Softball (10v10)

Dust off your ball cap and glove and join us at Elmwood Park for America’s pastime. This season is sure to be a home run.

Ultimate Frisbee (6v6) New
Join us for the first-ever season of ultimate frisbee at UNMC.
