Nebraska Medicine video
Just days after giving birth to twins, Lincoln mom Jamie Leishman received shocking news – her heart was failing. Doctors at Nebraska Medicine stepped in to implant a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) after a condition called peripartum cardiomyopathy left Jamie's heart in danger. The LVAD gives her the strength and energy to care for her children while she waits for a new heart.
