Regents to consider Dr. Gold’s UNO appointment

Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Thursday, Dec. 20, to consider the appointment of Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., as chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. Gold, chancellor of UNMC, has led UNO on an interim basis since 2017.

The regents will meet at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St. in Lincoln. The 11 a.m. meeting is open to the public and will be audio-streamed live here.

President Hank Bounds, Ph.D., named Dr. Gold as the priority candidate for chancellor on Nov. 5. As required by state law, Dr. Gold’s selection has undergone a 30-day public vetting period that included open forums at UNO and feedback opportunities for stakeholders.

If approved by the board, Dr. Gold would serve as UNO chancellor until June 30, 2022. He also will continue to serve as UNMC chancellor.
